With January almost done and dusted, most of us can only dream about our next epic getaway. I’ve got awesome news for you; your city is packed with some incredible spots to satisfy the adventure seeker in you. Check out my list of top stops to tick off your bucket list!
Durban
Durbs has a lot to offer. The weather is reason enough to feel like you’re always on a holiday, but if you need a break, look no further. Ugede Tented Camps is surrounded by forests and waterfalls and have permanent tents so “glamping” is a must at this spot! Then the Midlands Inverness Cottages is centrally situated in the heart of the popular Midlands Meander route. Enough said! And lastly, for the adventure seeker and outdoor types there’s Otter’s Creek – this one is a real gem!
Jozi
If the year already seems too long, then start saving your spare change for these breaks just outside of Joburg. They’re well worth the ride. Pilanesberg Nature Reserve might be a tad smaller than the Kruger, but you’ll see awesome animals. On our next stop you’d be forgiven for expecting to see Orlando Bloom in full, pointy-eared, Lord of the Rings regalia step out from behind the trees on a hike through Woodbush Forest Reserve. Lastly, Stone Tin Cottage, this is the perfect getaway from it all. Grab some wine, a good book and settle into this dream getaway! Bring on the relaxation!
Cape Town
If you’re planning to take a weekend off from the hustle and bustle of the Mother City, here you go. Little Cottage in McGregor is known for it’s laid-back vibes and that’s exactly what you’ll find. On to next one – when you arrive at Oewerzicht, kick off your shoes, roll up your jean pant and splash into the refreshing water of the Sonderend River. Or if something more intimate strikes your fancy, then step this way my friend. Here we have Platbos Log Cabins, three private and secluded wooden cabins overlooking Slanghoek Valley. Beautiful scenery and water. What more do you need, right?
